Cades Cove is a very popular destination in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on the Tennessee side. It is down in a valley and well known for beautiful nature scenes, historic cabins and churches and various wildlife, particularly black bears and deer. During another drive along this country road, I had an impromptu photoshoot with some black bears and their cubs.
Rich Mountain Road is accessible from within Cades Cove and I believe it is the only road that looks down into the valley. It provides wonderful views of the cove and the surrounding Smoky Mountains especially in the Spring and Fall.
